Novelist Catherine Tramell (Stone) is once again in trouble with the law. Her husband, a UK soccer superstar (played by actual former UK soccer superstar Stan Collymore), was drowned when their car plunged into the Thames while the couple were having sex in the car. Scotland Yard appoints psychiatrist Dr. Michael Glass (Morrissey) to evaluate Tramell before she goes on trial. Eventually, Tramell is not prosecuted and she approaches Glass to be her psychiatrist and subject of her next novel. Like Detective Nick Curran before him, Glass is entranced by Tramell and lured into a seductive game.
