The nominees are....
As you all know by now, this is the 51st annual Academy Awards. Two hours of sparkling entertainment, spread out over a four-hour show.~~Johnny Carson
Does a film being nominated for or winning an Academy Award (Oscar) affect whether or not you want to see it? Have you ever watched a movie based solely on the fact that it was nominated for or won an Oscar? How many of this year's nominees have you seen? Which ones? Do you think the film and/or actor deserved the nomination? Are there any you wanted to see but have not managed to do so yet?
Being nominated or not means not a bit of difference to me. I tend to go against the popular current as it is. I've seen Capote, Brokeback Mountain, Transamerica, Wallace and Grommit, the Curse of the Were-rabbit, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Memoirs of a Geisha, “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”. I enjoyed most of those films, outside of "Wallace and Grommit". I want to see Crash, Syriana, Goodnight and Goodluck, The Squid and the Whale, Munich, Walk the Line, Pride and Predjudice, and North Country.
