Curious as a Cat
What is the least appropriate thing to pray for? In my opinion, the least appropriate thing to pray for would be for money for your own personal gain. A close second would be patience. I'm afraid to pray for patience as that it might bring more of the trials that the Bible says leads to patience.
"tribulation worketh patience" (Rom. 5:3)
What does it mean to be patient? Webster's definition is 1) bearing pains or trials calmly or without complaint 2) steadfast despite opposition, difficulty, or adversity 3) not hasty or impetuous. Literally it means to be willing to suffer. It means self-control, it means the ability to wait and not rush into things.
That makes me think of an amusing quotation from Steel Magnolias:
"When it comes to pain and suffering, she's right up there with Elizabeth Taylor"
