I used my free tickets and went to see "
The World's Fastest Indian" last night. I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy the film or not. But I thought, what the hell- I'm not out anything (but two hours of my time) if I didn't like the movie.
I always enjoy the performances of Sir Anthony Hopkins. I was pleasantly surprised that the movie wasn't a typical "speed" movie geared toward men and filled with the workings of machinery and overflowing with testosterone. You couldn't help but take to Hopkins as
Burt Munro, a codgy old New-Zealander full of the kiwi charm. It is a true-to-life story and I'll be interested to find out how closely the picture follwed Munro's life.
True, it was a bit formulaic and contrived at times, but overall it was enjoyable, uplifting and entertaining. Sometimes that is enough out of a film.
